Want to go to a rave, and wake up without an awful, self-induced hangover? How about detoxifying with yoga, glowsticks and fire dancers on a sandy beach? Our Singapore showroom manager, Dawn, tells us about her night doing yoga under the stars...
We hit the sandy shores of Tanjong Beach on Sentosa Island, the southern-most point of continental Asia, to take part in the first-ever yoga rave party in Singapore.
On Saturday September 7, as part of national yoga month, over 400 participants registered during the days leading up to the event organized by InTheLoop, to secure their spot. Thankfully, we made the effort to sign up early because it was completely sold out. It wasn’t the easiest location to find – and it was quite a trek to get there. Participants had to either drive, take a monorail or cable car, or walk three kilometers over a suspension bridge, which connects the island to mainland Singapore.
The weather was perfect: clear skies, a cool breeze, and a gorgeous view of the sunset. An hour before the class began, it was packed with participants ready to collect their goodie bags. We all laid out our yoga mats on the sand and settled into our 75-minute vinyasa practice led by Christina and Saan.
With the combination of live progressive lounge music from Hummingbird Concepts, yoga, meditation and the sea breeze, the atmosphere was just magical. At the end of the class, we were all treated to a performance by fire dancers and acroyoga instructors.
We loved this event and already can't wait for next year.
